2022 Jeep Compass Review
The Jeep Compass remains the favored model choice within the Jeep lineup for many drivers. Graceful on-road driving dynamics and plenty of usable space in the cabin allow individuals and families alike to benefit from this SUV.
As the model year turns over, our Bill Penney Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram team thought a 2022 Jeep Compass review would be in order. While a test drive around Cullman, Jasper, and Birmingham, AL, is still the best form of research, our review will prove plenty insightful.

2022 Compass: Classic Jeep Capability
The 2022 Jeep Compass is imbued with similar off-roading chops as you would find in other Jeep vehicles, such as the Wrangler. If there’s a muddy field, a narrow creek, or a steep slope in your path, you can trust the Compass to get you across it just fine.
First, there’s the Selec-Terrain® system, which gives you the ability to quickly toggle from one drive mode to the next. The modes include Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud, and Rock. Each alters specific aspects of the driving dynamics, such as throttle response and transmission shifting, to help you tackle difficult terrain.
A pair of 4X4 systems are available too:
- Jeep Active Drive 4X4
- Jeep Active Drive Low
The first option, Jeep Active Drive 4X4, can seamlessly switch between 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive. So, if one or the other drivetrain system is better for your current off-road predicament, the SUV is ready and willing to make the swap.
The more impressive system comes in the Trailhawk trim—Jeep Active Drive Low. This system gives you the following features:
- Shift 100% of available torque to any wheel for added stability—something Jeep Active Drive 4X4 also does
- 4-Low Mode
- A 20:1 crawl ratio
2022 Compass: Looking Out for Your Well-Being
In total, the 2022 Jeep Compass comes with more than 75 intuitive safety and security features. The SUV is constantly looking out for you and your passengers.
Many of these systems are driving-assistive technologies. So, for example, you have Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking. It can stop your vehicle for you, if a potential front-facing collision is detected by the sensors.
Blind Spot Monitoring provides you with an alert when another vehicle is in your blind spot as you make your way along the highway or a 2-lane road.
You also have the available Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, which sets your vehicle at a pre-selected distance from anyone in front of you.
Finally, the LaneSense® Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist will ensure you don’t unknowingly drift out of your respective lane.
