2022 Ram 2500 Review

Ram develops trucks of all sizes. For many, the Ram 1500 is capable enough to handle daily tasks around Jasper, Birmingham, and Cullman, AL. If you require more than what the Ram 1500 delivers, though, you can always step up to the Ram 2500. Larger and stronger than the 1500, the Ram 2500 can easily tackle construction or commercial tasks.

Our 2022 Ram 2500 review is a breakdown of what this model is about. If you’re ready to take the next step towards a test drive, contact our Bill Penney Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram team!

2022 Ram 2500: Towing, Payload, and Engine Options

2022 Ram 2500 Towing CapacityWe’ll be discussing towing and payload in unison with the engine offerings for the Ram 2500 because the motor you select is going to influence capability. Both available motors are strong and reliable, yet those seeking the most towing capability will prefer the diesel.

The standard setup isn’t the diesel. Instead, it’s a 6.4L HEMI® V8 boasting 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. That impressive output results in a maximum towing capacity of 17,540 pounds when properly equipped. When you load the bed with supplies, you can do so knowing your Ram 2500 will support 4,010 pounds of payload when properly configured.

Stepping up to the available 6.7L Cummins® Turbo Diesel I6 sees a drop in horsepower to 370, but a substantial bump in torque to 850 lb-ft. All that torque helps improve the maximum towing capacity to a hefty 20,000 pounds when properly equipped. There is a slight drop in payload, however, with the maximum coming in at 3,160 pounds when properly configured.

So, choosing the Ram 2500 performance you want comes down to whether you value payload or towing more.

2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon

2022 Ram 2500 Engine SpecsIf you expect to be using your Ram 2500 in a lot of rugged terrains, you may want to consider the Power Wagon trim of the truck. While the base model can handle off-roading, the Power Wagon thrives once it leaves the pavement.

The remarkable poise the Power Wagon displays over any terrain is thanks in part to the front and rear locking differentials. These ensure that all four wheels spin at the same rate. There’s also the helpful electronically disconnecting front sway bar, which allows you to navigate sizable rocks or ruts while keeping both front tires on the ground. A set of Bilstein® Gas-Charged Monotube Shocks are a pleasant addition, too.

From the factory, the Power Wagon is also equipped with a WARN® ZEON-12 winch. If you find yourself in a tricky spot, the winch will come in handy. It offers a lightweight design, a synthetic line that resists fraying or kinking, and a 12,000-pound rating.

The 2022 Ram 2500 Is a Whole Lot of Truck

The 2022 Ram 2500 has an imposing presence given its size and strength. This model isn’t all about looks, however. You can tackle quite a few difficult jobs around Jasper, Birmingham, or Cullman, Alabama, thanks to its raw power and capability.
